My Green Terror have eggs (thought they were both male!)
I have 2 Green Terror (the gold saum variety), they are both rather small at about 4 inches each. A couple of days ago I noticed the smaller of the 2 had changed colours and was hiding alot and had damaged fins. I also saw it displaying and fighting with a male jewel cichlid which is in the same tank. This morning i saw eggs, laid on the inside of an upturned shell in the middle of the tank. i was sure both my green terrors were male! the one guarding the eggs is alot darker in colour and wont let anyone near except the other green terror. i didnt think they could spawn at this size! i will try to post some pics. Which one do u think is the female? i think its the larger, lighter coloured one. Any advice on raising the fry?
the first pic is the one that patrols the tank and is lighter in colour. im pretty sure it was decidedly plump a few days ago, now is mysteriously slim.
the second pic is the darker one guarding the eggs, u can just see them on the rim of the white shell
Congrats. They are beautiful
Thanks!! So far they are being model parents...the eggs hatched today and the fry have been moved to a pit in the gravel. I'm hoping some survive but trying not to keep my hopes too high!
