BIO-Wheel not spinning...

I just bought a marineland penguin 200 BIO-wheel filter, problem is... either it never came with, or I accidentally thrrew the bio wheel bearings out! So now my filter runs, cartridge is in as well as the bio wheel... but the wheel doesnt spin :( I'm hoping the pet stores will be able to sell the bio-wheels or bearings seprate. Until Then do you think it's unsafe to add a community? I mean the water is going somewhat through the bio-wheel... and there is a cartridge and all.

Not sure about your bio wheel but mine has a tab on the top that I can raise and lower to slow or speed up the water flow but if set too low the wheels do not spin. Have you checked to see if you also have this tab? I did not have to install any type of bearings.

I believe I've seen them at various pet stores. But I'm sure you'd be able to order it online either through other fish supply websites, or the direct Marineland website through replacement parts.

mine definitely had purple plastic tabs that the ends of the biowheel sat in to allow it to spin, and i have the same exact filter. id try a good lfs that sells marineland stuff to see if they can special order it. orrrr worst case say it never came with the parts and they can take em out of a filter on the shelf!
