Breeding troubles? Blue gourami
So, I have a male & female blue gourami.
They have always seemed to get a long pretty well and everything.
But, the female gourami is now bullying the male, and she always seems to be her 'dark blue' color, and looks sooo bloated.
But, if the male gets near her, and he turns his 'dark blue' color, she gets angry and attacks him.
She only seems to turn the dark blue around my golden gourami.
Is this normal?
should I be worried?
I was informed she could die if she didn't release her eggs, is this true?
( I have put them both in a breeding tank once, they started this terrible nipping and I couldn't handle the violence)
What size tank; how many fish (and what others); are there plants esp floating?
The gold gourami is actually the same species as the blue gourami, just a different colour form. You can read more on this in our profile, click the shaded name.
And welcome to Tropical Fish Keeping forum.
Thank you (:
And they are homed in a 55g with several other fish.
There are tiger barbs, a red-fin shark, a sailfin molly, and a common, (a long with 5molly fry).
Their breeding tank was a 30g long, with lots of floating plants, and lots of hiding places. (just in case).
The 55g does have floating plants, just for them, and they even stay in their corner.
(the fish have been together for a long time, so they each already know their zones.)
