Brand new fish owners... we had an accident, now what??
We have a 10 gallon freshwater tank. Have had fish in it for only 4 days. We started with 2, then added 6 more that my husband had in his freshwater tank at his work. The first 2 we started with were guppies. The other six were some other kind of cheap small tropical fish from the pet store.
We had the pet store test our water before adding fish and they said we have soft water and all the other things were perfect. We have a filter (not sure of the brand) and the heater stays right at 78 degrees.
The accident...tonight my 3 year old son put about a teaspoon of fish flakes in the tank. I used the "water sucker thing" to try and get some of them out, but that mainly just broke the flakes up.
Will that excess food kill our fish? Is there anything I can do?
Sorry for my lack of knowledge. Like I said I am new to all this.
Also don't fell bad as once I woke up to a tank full of shredded cheese. LoL my son thought he would help feed the fish. Let me tell ya that makes a Hugh mess.
