Trying to grow moss on rock

Ok so I've heard it's possible and I talked to the people at the pet shop (though god knows how helpful they are XD) I was wondering what I had to do to get some moss to grow on some rock. I bought a tufa rock, the white porous rock, and I guess all I need to do is some how root the Java moss I got onto it right? but how? XD I feel like I should tie it? I dunno, ask any question and I will answer it as best I can.

Just take the moss and put it on the rock tie it down with string or fishing line and wait. LoL I have heard of people taken mesh (what kind I don't know lol) and putting it over the moss and then taken fish line or string and tieing it down. Hope this helps somewhat. I have heard it takes longer for the moss to take ahold on rocks so be patient.

In my tanks it takes forever it seems like for the moss to actually root to the rocks. I like fishing line because you can't see it.

Thanks I guess my thoughts on the idea to tie it down was correct XD. I mounted my java moss down and placed a baby java fern on top of the crown of the rock hopefully it will grow there too. I am excited and hope it won't take too long but I can only wait and see. Fish and plant keeping is all patience no? Thank you again guys <3 it was very helpful perhaps once I have my camera recharged I'll try to take pics of it again.
