recentlly i got 3 black phantom tetras. I tried to put them into a larger tank with angelfish 1 old gourami 2 pearls and a kribensis... later on i learned they were somewhat gentle fish so i quickly scooped them out before my angel fish could continue harassing them. I placed them into a smaller 5 gallon and they were still harassed by my gold gourami, which later after research i learned were agressive to smaller fish. Right now i have the three black phantoms alone in the small tank with 2 ghost shrimp. I want to know if they will harm my shrimps and weather or not fin nipping between the three is normal? I heard that in small groups they will do that and in larger groups they will stop but will adding more over crowd my tank?
also i know this isnt in the gouramis section but if anyone knows, how do you stop fish of the same kind from harassing each other, since i first got a large gold gourami and i thought it felt lonely so i got another smaller one. the large one picked on the little one and i beleived it was just the size diffrence so i put it the large one into the small tank. I heard that fish arent the smartest thing so after a while when your intoduce them they will think thier new fish and not harass the other fishes. about a week later i put it into the larger tank again and the small one was harassing the big one this time! later on i separated them and a week later i put one large one into a small breeding like plastic case and then i scooped out the smaller one and put it into the tank as well. i thought if they were togather thinking they were in new places they wouldnt hurt each other. i rearranged the fake plants in my tank and after an hour i released them back into the tank. they seemed fine but after a hour there was a little fin nipping again. the gold gourami doesnt get along with my tetras i have no choice but to put it into the larger tank. so does anyone know how to get them to get along if possible?
black phantom food
also i forgot to mention, people with experience, what kind of food to phantoms perfer. in the store we were feeding them flake foods but they wont accept mine but perfer frozen blood worms. is that ok?
Re: black phantom food
As to the reverse, it is because you remove the larger gourami hence allowing time for the smaller one to establish territories for itself instead.
