Cardinal Tetras/White Face

I've lost two Cardinal Tetras (out of twelve) in the last four or five days.

The first one I noticed was hanging out by itself and the very front of it's head all the color had washed out, it was white. Within an hour I found it dead and stuck to the side of my filter intake.

Today, I see another Cardinal Tetra, one of the bigger stronger ones with the head white. I netted it and put it out of it's misory :(

One of you more experianced aquarists must know what this is.

Please educate me.

I'm not sure what that could be, except Cardinals are so sensitive to water conditions, and often arrive to fishstores with tail/fin rot, but I'm not sure how it effects their head. I've seen the tail end loose color, and even parts of their tail. It is likely a fungus that is due to poor water conditions. Keep your water really clean, and hope you've gotten the ones that contracted it, and the others will be okay.
