What do you prefer?
I am planning on getting a 20 gallon tank, and my stocking ideas are all over creation! My latest idea was to get a bunch of different kinds of tetras, but then I realized I could fit fancy goldfish for this size tank. WHAT DO I GET??? ARG. SO HARD TO DECIDE!!! I notice my tetras don't seem as intelligent as my other fish, and they also don't seem to have interesting personalities. They look awesome in large numbers, though. On the other hand, we have goldfish. You can only have a few, and they turd too much, but they get big and have cool personalities and like people. WHAT TO GET??? BTW if I get two fancy goldies, will I need a huge filter, or will a standard one work? Also I know they aren't even tropical fish.:hmm::frustrated:
yeah, tetras are a bit vague. My whiteskirts remind me of primal dinosaurs in the way they act... instinct and no brain. Livebearers have very nice personalities. My platties will even come and nibble mu fingers when I go to rearrange the tank. One of them follows my finger and comes up to the glass, whenever someone passes by the tank. Hmmm other interesting fish... oh freshwater puffers. I've never owned one, but I hear they are very intelligent and even learn to recognize their owners and liked to be stroked. XD I want one so bad, but my tank is too full, since they can get to be decent size... but they have such cute googly eyes XD
i personally like live bearers and corycats lol they just seem to make the tank seem happy you could always do a combo of both i have a black and white tank that i love and it has a nice big school off black skirt tetras and then a trio of white sailfin mollies with some panda corry cats
I would get like 6 pea puffers
A 20g is insufficient space for goldfish.
As for tropicals, select fish that manage with your water parameters. Livebearers require medium hard or harder water, so if that is what comes out of your tap, they will be better suited.
