Crazy otocinclus catfish
Not sure where to post this, so posting it here...
I've got 3 otos in my 20 gallon tank and there is plenty of brown algae on 2 of the walls (I leave it there for the otos). Theres also some on the leaves of my live plants. However one of the otos constantly harasses one of my platies (which has been swimming in an odd way). The oto approaches the platy and it literally sucks on to its skin. The platy swims away, but this behavior just keeps repeating. The platy's fins are OK, but it sometimes swims almost horizontally, i.e. the dorsal fin is horizontal instead of vertical...don't know what to make of that either.
I've not observed this with my otos, but it has been mentioned by other aquarists. Otos with discus are often risky as the otos will graze the fry slime coat from discus.
Also, I really like your new quote :-)
