Plant suggestions for a warmer temp tank I already have plants in this tank, and they are doing fine, but I never remember or document the plants I have in a tank, so I'm just wondering what others would list as good plants for a tank with a ph of 6.4 and a temp of around 83 degrees? I have Cardinals and German Blue Rams in it, with a sand bottom. I'm always looking for plants, and could use some suggestions on types that would do well. My lighting is considered, low to moderate. Thanks! |

I wouldn't worry about the cardinals in 83 degree water. I keep a shoal of them in my discus tank and I've had them for a few years. If you go to aquariumplants.com they have a list of "warm water" plants. I know in my 83 degree tank I'm able to keep java fern, anubias, crypts, wisteria, and hygro angustifolia (or however you spell it!). Like you, I have low to medium light. They say vals do great in warm water, I've never been able to keep them going in my tank. Too bad as I know my Discus like them. |

Thanks Kymmie, and it is nice to have you back. I remember a long time ago, you mentioned in a post I had, that it can be cut back and the cut part just replanted, and it grows like crazy. At that time I had the list of the plants I bought, but you're right, it does do that. I have that one in this tank, and it's fine. Kind of like a "willow tree". I also have Java fern and whisteria, and they are doing fine. I'm wanting to get things I can get at a LFS, and anubias would be good. I have that in my other tank, but don't want to take it from there. Appreciate those suggestions!! Gwen |
