 Baby platys, Round 2!
I've just noticed that my female calico is getting a bit rounder lately. Anyone know where I can get a cheap breeder net or something to keep the fry in. I have a small tank, but it's not the best.

i've heard that breeder net are bad for livebearers. using a small tank would probably be better.

Dormfish,

i know you have a small tank and limited space what are you going to do with said fry if they survive and grow up? If she has babies in the tank its less likely you will be overrun.

Just a thought.

Oh, I don't put the mother in the trap before she drops. Once she drops, which is usually while I'm at class, the weaker fry will be picked of by the other fish by the time I get back. Then I'll take the remaining fry and separate them from the other fish. Lat time I ended up with about ten. I plan to sell them to people in the dorm. Everyone has fish here. :) What I don't sell in the dorms, I'm going to sell to this local pet store, that I know will accept them once they're about 3 or so centimeters.

oh, for that the trap should be ok. you just don't want to put the moms in them, from my understanding.

Yeah, I've heard that, too. It stresses the mom, and she may miscarry the fry or injure herself. I don't like the small tank so much, because I always have to change the water, which is stressful on the fry when they're still very little. When they get bigger, I will probably move some into the small tank, just because of space.
