Hi! I'm a total newbie (my tank was just set up 1 week ago) and am looking forward to learning more about how to do this right! I'm almost 14 years old, and I have a 10 gallon aquarium with 3 black skirt tetras (I think they're also known as black widows or something), and am looking to add more soon, since they are doing fine. I do have some old gravel that I had from a goldfish that died that is probably helping things. Anyway, I just want to warn y'all in advance that there will be a lot of silly question coming in the future!
P.S. My fish are named Mr. Wigglesworth, Mr. Bubbles, and Mr. Nibbles, and I have a Golden Mystery Snail named Bob (hence the username).
Hi and welcome bob!
Don't you worry about posting silly questions, if you look at how many posts I've made, MOST if not all of them were silly questions :) You never learn if you never ask, and some of the people here really know their stuff. Enjoy!
Hey Bobthesnail, and his owner! Welcome to TFK!!
Hold off for a little while on adding any more fish until your tank goes thru the Nitrogen Cycle. If you only have plastic plants in your tank then it is going to take 6-8 weeks for this process. Many fish can die in this time frame so I am advising not to add any more yet.
If you have some live plants this will help immensely!
Sadly we have all lost fish during this process, but it takes lots of reading, learning and patience when dealing with fish and tanks. Good Luck!!
Welcome to TFK, BobtheSnail. As everyone says, don't worry about silly questions. I myself have had some real doozies when I first started! We are glad you joined us. :-)
Welcome to TFK  I look forward to your tank progress.
Jakiebabie is right about adding any more fish at this time but we'll walk you through the cycling process if you need help.
hello and welcome. :-D
