| beetlebz | 09-17-2007 06:55 PM | new life to an old filter? WOO! first, i just got back from vacation. <sniffle> i missed you guys
anywhoo, a friend of mine just gave me what looks to be an OLD tetra whisper filter (second nature whisper?) it looks identical and takes the same filters. my question is, I plugged it in and cleaned it up (not in that order) and this thing moves about 2x the water if not more than my regent aqua tech on my 30 gal tank, thats the same physical size lol
the tetra whisper "bags" only have just the bag (which slips over a plastic skeleton so it holds it shape) that you fill with carbon, which I dont use. my question is, is there anything i can do or anything else i could stuff in the filter bag so i dont wash off / throw out all of my bacteria when i rinse or change the filter? the thing rocks, i figure i might as well use it to suppliment the filter for the ton of fish i have in the 30 gal! |
