Inpaichthys kerri (Blue Kerri Tetra) hardiness
Interested in picking up some of these but before I buy them I would like to know if they're more hardy then Neon's, also would neon's school with them? I've 3 neons out of my failed school of 12 left looking to get some company for them and I really like the look of these but if most of them are going to die with in a week like the neon's I'll pass.
When I had a group of these back in the mid 1990's, I found them very hardy. Very comparable to Emperor Tetra, with which this species is sometimes confused, but smaller and much less aggressive, though males do drive females when in the mood. And this species, also like the Emperor, is an easy and prolific spawner. In a well planted tank fry will appear from time to time.
Make sure you have a mix of male/female; check our profile for info on that--click on the name Inpaichthys kerri. Also note they need soft slightly acidic water. I don't know your parameters, but this may have been the issue with the neons.
