I run aquaclear hob's, I use 2 sponges and the ac biomax stuff on top. Probably don't need the biomax at all but I like to have it for the times I get a little lazy and sponges get real gunked up to the point I need to wash them out in the sink, even when gunked up the biomax comes clean after a quick swish in the old tank water.

On my 60g, I use two AquaClear 70's set to low flow/max filtration, with Fluval sponge pre-filters on the inlet tubes. Inside, I use extra filtration pads (scotchbrite) in addition to the standard sponge, then the rest is filled with Seachem Matrix bio-media.
