55 gallon angelfish tank stocking
Heyy This is my first year with fishkeeping and I want to know for my stocking i have 4 angelfish. 5 gold barbs. 5 rummynosed tetras. 3 pentazona and 1 cherry barb survivors of ich. Also 3 golden dojo loaches. I was wondering I'm going to get rid of the pentazona and cherry barb. But how many more rummy nosed tetras can i add for perfect stocking. Also i bought a 55 gallon HOB filter several months ago..When I turned it off and tried to turn it back on..Some weird sound came on and i figured it might be the sand? LUckily I had a 110 aquaclear HOB and is using that for now.. Would that filter be sufficient enough for the stocking? Thank you for any advice or tips
With your filter that quit working if you still have it I would take it apart rise it out, put it back together put it on the tank fill it with water then plug it in. If it still does not work you can order a new impeller which will more than likely fix your problem.
Welcome to Tropical Fish Keeping forum. Nice to have you with us.
To respond to your fish question, you are aware that the Dojo Loach can attain a foot in length? Three of these in a 55g is going to be crowded. They can be predatory as they mature. And they need cooler temperatures than the tropicals. I would re-home them sooner rather than later.
Rummynose do best in larger groups, so I would aim for a dozen total. These might become food for the dojo if they remain though.
Golden Barb is a species i would not suggest for angelfish, but as you have them... They should however be in a larger group, as noted in the profile. You can click on the shaded names to see the profiles.
