So confused about aquarium lighting I have a fairily heavily planted 29 gallon freshwater community tank. Most of my plants are medium light, and obviously didn't grow with the hood that came with the tank. About 6 months ago I bought a piece of glass for the top of the tank, along with two grow lights for the top of the tank. The plants really are growing pretty well, but the lights are so UGLY! I would really like to construct a cheap hood with good lighting. Is this possible without being technically diffucult? New lights are so...expensive, and I'm in college. Thanks! Christina |
you could retrofit your hood with a 55w from ahsupply.com or you could go with a new cf or t5 set up. i know someone who just bought a cf 65w lights for their 29 gal for $55 each. |
Go with the retrofit kit like mgamer said. Inexpensive, very easy to do and they are great as far as technical support. I have never ordered form them and they have spent hours explaining things to me both email and on the phone. |
Thank you! That is very helpful |
