Is it ich or something else?
I added fish to my tank on Friday (2 black mollies and 3 black skirt tetras). Everyone seems fine except for one of the mollies - yesterday I noted that he was a bit grey and that he was hiding at the back/bottom of the tank. I dropped in some food to see if I could get him to come out for a better look. He came out, but I couldn't get a look at whether or not he had some type of fungus or spots (indicating ich). So, I removed the filter and added Melafix. He's not as grey today, but there are spots...I think (he just won't be still for me to get a good look at him). A couple of years ago I had an issue w/ ich and used "Ich Away"...don't remember if I got good results or not....need some advice on how to proceed so that everyone else doesn't get infected (if it's infectious) and so that I can "save" this fish from doom.
I've read about adding salt and upping the temp....Will that work in my tank? I've got a 30 gallon tank w/ danios, mollies, platies, and tetra.
Thanks for any input!
I'd increase the temp to 84 and use the salt. Treatment should be done in two weeks. In the meantime, be sure to use airpumps as the oxygen level decreases due to the rising temperature.
