stocking for 55 gal tank

for when i get my next tank, i'm thinking of putting my common pleco and my swordtails (however many i have at that point) in with perhaps 3 dwarf gourami (one male, 2 female) and a bunch (say, 10) cherry barbs. the tank would have floating plants and some hardier, low-light plants like java fern. pH will be around 7.6 and i'm planning on a temp around 75 F. does this sound like it should work? also, do you think there would be enough room for one more group of 6-10 shoaling fish? assuming of course i keep the number of swordtails down to something manageable.

Yes to your question. But I would think twice about gourami in with swordtails that can be rather active (boisterous) and sometimes a bit aggressive, and the slower sedate gourami (any species, not just the dwarf) would be an easy target.
