Bumblebee and Painted Platy

A few days ago, my fish had died of Anchor Worms that she had gotten from the tank she was in at Petco. Now yesterday, I went back to Petco to return my fish for a new one, and found a healthy orange and black Painted Platy. It is a female and is absolutely stunning. I put her with my other Bumblebee Platy, male, in my 5 gallon tank. He chases her around sometimes and seems to nudge her around.

Well, basically is this mating behavior, and could they breed successfully?

Thank you to everyone who comments :-D

Congrats on your new girl. Yes it does sound like mating behavior, the male will chase the female around and when along side her it will look like he is bumping into her side. You should have no issues with them breeding.

If I remember right you are looking into getting a larger tank. Once you do so I would recommend adding another female so that it lessens the chance of the male harassing your single female in trying to mate with her constantly.
