fake reptile plants with fish
could I use fake plants that are made for reptile tanks in fish tanks?
I would be careful. While on the surface one would expect them to be safe, when placed permanently under water they might release toxins from the colour or the composition. There are some very realistic silk plants made for aquaria; if you do not (or cannot) have live plants, these would be a safer choice.
Some reptile plants have a sort of spray that makes it able to withstand the heat of a desert reptile or the most of a jungle reptile. I'd avoid it, besides they don't look that great anyways.
Thanks guys, the fake plants I was looking at are designed for plaudariums Specifically for poison arrow frogs. I was assuming if were safe for the frogs to hide, maybe hold a small amount of water in for the frog to soak or as a nursery for 1-2 tadpoles, it would be safe for fish. I also figured they would look great with other fake plants or added as a foreground plant in a tank containing mostly live plants. What I may end up doing is contacting the company. I do want to go the live plant root( no pun intended ;-)) if I go fresh hard water tank, or a mix of real and fake if I go brackish with a saline range of 1.002-1.004.
