Which light brand is best? Please help need answer soon
I have a 55g tank with alot of plants I want to get better lighting. Which is better between these below? Would these be considered medium-high lighting? Also with any of these would I need co2?

I would go with the Current or the Coralife. Either one of them if you go with all full spectrum bulbs will almost certainly require CO2 injection. The lighting from all 3 puts you at high light.

Just to make sure on the light levels, put your tank dimanesions in the above site about half way down. I know it sounds weird but this is a much better way to calculate the light levels than watts per gallon or even lumens.

If you want medium light, you can find 50/50 actinic bulbs, I believe on Big Al's. Take the total wattage and divide it in half for every 50/50 bulb.

i.e.: 2 full spectrum 65 watt bulbs with 2 50/50 bulbs 65 watts each = 65+65+65 or 195 watts. This still puts oyu ate high light from what I could see on the site. I don't really think there is much chance of getting away from it if you really want phenonimal plant growth. CO2 injection will helps the plants immensely and also help to keep algae at bay.

If you don't mind me asking, do you have a fertilizer dosing regiment in mind? With that much light, you will need a good regular dosing plan to help to prevent algae outbreak even with CO2. If you have questions, kick off another thread and we will help you get ready so it doesn't becomes a big headache when you switch to high light.

Oh and Welcome to fishforum. :D
