gourami/dwarf gourami tank size
i noticed that both Blue Gourami and Dwarf Gourami are best kept in male/female pairs. i'm planning a 55 gallon tank and am curious if this is big enough to have more than two (of one kind or the other, not both)? i'm thinking either two pairs or one male and two females. would this work?

I would recommend going with the 2 female route. I dont see 2 males getting along if theres females in the tank as well.

I agree. One male and 2 or 3 females in a 55g for the Blue Gourami. While a 4-foot tank may seem large enough for more, esp with the Dwarf Gourami, there is an element of risk. Some gourami males are territorial but generally peaceful, others can be aggressive enough to kill any other gourami and sometimes other fish too. In my experience with several species, gourami males are comparable to cichlid males in this respect.

Ive had my 4 dwarf male gouramis for about 3 months and they have been doing fine.
