QT a snail

How would you go about QTing a mystery snail? I know snails are really messy so I was going to put him in a 1gallon tank with no filter, daily 100% water changes or would I have to do more or less? Also is algae wafers sufficient for him? Also how long? 1 week or 3 weeks before he could go in the main tank? Thanks for any insight.

I have never quarantined a snail and I'm not sure you really need to, no idea. When I've needed to place snails somewhere I just use a tupperware container on my desk, if you can just break off a small piece of the algae wafer, water changes and it will be happy as can be.

I haven't done a qt on any of my snails either. You can feed your snail algae waffers, mine love them and I will drop a piece in for them every once in awhile.

Good to know, I just tossed him in and he is doing fine. Fun to see the other fish swim up and say hi every once in a while
