Opinion on Flora Max substrate
 

Hello everyone!

I believe this is my first post on this forum and I wanted to say hi. I just set up a 5 gallon tank with some new plant substrate I found at petco. Its called Flora Max and was wondering if anyone might have an opinion on it. This is my first time using plant substrate so hopefully it works out. Let me know what you all think.

I have not used Floramax myself, but I have researched it a bit. Opinions seem to be that it is fine for plants once they root. But it is apparently very rough (sharp edged) and substrate fish are not advised; I don't have a Petco near me in Canada so I can't check this out for myself, but the comments came from reputable sources. This is a 5g and I don't know what you intend for fish, but I would not put corys (the "dwarf" species in a 5g) in this tank, nor similar fish like loaches in larger tanks. Shrimp would be OK.
