Pleco out of water
Just a heads up- anyone give me a rough time how long it is safe to hold a plec (common) on your hand for a few photos. I know this is a rare thing and could be stressful but is a couple of mins ok?
I see alot of pictures taken of them out of the water. I also read aloot baout them surviving on the mud they spawn in for hours to lay their eggs and get them fertilized. Just make sure to keep your hand wet and make sure it is clean and thouroghly rinsed so you don't transfer any oils from your hand to the fish which can cause delayed problems. Gloves might be best bet but I wouldn't use them with a fish I might not be able to handle and get a good "feel" for in my hand. Use your best judgement but the short the better and good clean rinsed hands will lessen any chance of harming it.
Oh, and this for COMMON plecos only. I have not seen anyting about any others and would not do this with BN plecos as they could inflict some serious damage to you and cause you to drop them harming them.
