Tell me about my light!
I bought a new light and replaced it.
Do I need to buy a bi or tri light setup?
its low light. i would look at the 36w kit from ahsupply.com i have a 55w over my 20 gal long. another direction is the power compact screw in bulbs.
I bought some stuff today.
I bought 3 incandescent lights. 2 x 25 watt and 1 x 15 watt. And it equals out to roughly 3 watts per gallon. However, it's not so bright. It's a little yellowish, and I kind of miss my high kelvin fluorescent light :(, the light now has kind of a yellow ish tint. Also, I bought clear bulbs. I didn't want coral or any other coloured bulb >.<.
It's a reptile light. The store didn't sell 24" aquarium incandescent lights, plus it doesn't fit very well. I'm looking for an aquarium light that has 1 fluorescent tube slot, and 2 incandescent 25 watt slots. :)
you want to switch the bulbs out to power compact ones.
Hmm, why power compact ones? That would give me about 1.7 WPG.
incandescent bulb make too much heat and isnt good for plants. fluorescent bulbs is what you need. they have 26w day light power compact bulbs. your tank going to look better less heat and be able to grow plants.
Where can I buy 25W fluorescent bulbs?
I drove down to walgreens. And they were there! They look stunning, thanks!
Wal-Mart, Ace, Home Depot, or other hardware store whould carry them.
If oyu can afford to get a new light, go with the normal fluorescents. They are much better, cover more of the tank and have a much wider selection as far as preferences for color of light.
It will help to know if oyu are trying to go high tech and want to get into fast growing plants before any specific recommendaiton because the higher the lighting the more complex it gets.
Well, I'm getting a high light already. The light is almost white. 75 watts, here I come! :P
That will give me roughly 3.5 WPG.
