Algea Treatment
 
I have used some algae treatment and on the box it siad to take out charcoal filter media. I did this but that is big part of my filter. How long do i have ot wait until i can put it back?

Welcome to ff.com :D By charcoal you mean carbon right? Some meds like that one are removed by carbon so you will have to wait as long as the medication asks you to cure the tank. If this is a big part of your filter then look for something else to inprovise, such as filter pads. :D

The active carbon/charcoal only needs to be used to remove medication after the proper treatment length of time. I agree that when you go to oput somethng back get something else if you can. Charcoal/carbon is only good for about 5-6 week tops and needs to be replaced even more often to be completely effective in removing odors and such. For the most part it is not needed at all short of medicaiton removal. Filter pads, sponges, ceramic rings, bioballs, Chemstars, and many other choices are better than carbon.

Hey, thanks for the reply. It's the carbon bag that came with the filter. And the treatment didn't say when it was done...
