I just bought a tank on craigslist and the previous owner didn't know what type of fish were in it. They're about 5 inches long and I've attached a picture. If someone could help me ID them, that would be great.

I think this fish is of Genus Puntius but species not sure

They look like young Tinfoil barbs.

I concur with jeaninel. They get big--very big, and need a large tank. Two similar species are in our fish profiles, click on the names to see the profile:
Barbonymus schwanenfeldii
