lighting?

I have a 20 gal. tank and i'm new to saltwater. i forget how many watts do i need for coral?

All depends upon what type of coral. If you are new to the game I'd shoot for no less than 4wpg and grow out some softies. When you get going with mushrooms, leathers, and zoas try some LPS corals. If you want SPS shoot for 8wpg or higher.
