Lighting for 10g Tank: Wisteria and Amazon Swords

In my 10 gallon tank (Aqueon Basic 10 Gallon), I have 5 Amazon Swords (although the packaging says Argentine Swords... probably close enough) and 5 Wisteria.

The plants are starting to look dull in color, and looks like it's starting to yellow.

The light that I'm using now are the ones that came with the tank. (2x incandescent bulbs 15W T10 120V).

Would this light bulb be best?
2x 10 Watt Mini Fluorescent 6500k. It's going down 5 watts per bulb, but at least the color temp would be more correct?

Should I also add Seachem Florish to help? :-?

The light is likely a problem, but it may also involve nutrients. First on the light.

I would go to a hardware store and buy a package of Compact Fluorescent bulbs. They usually come in packs of 2. They are screw-in and fit regular incandescent sockets like you probably have. A "daylight" with a Kelvin rating of 6500K will work fine. They come in various wattages; a 10w will work for swords, but Wisteria needs more light and might be better with the next size up, a 13w. I use GE "Daylight" 6500K bulbs over my 10g and 20g.

Are you adding any fertilizer? Plants need nutrients, and while some come from organics (waste) and tap water, these can vary and may be inadequate. I use and recommend Seachem's Flourish Comprehensive Supplement; it takes very little, for your 10g it will be about 1/4 teaspoon once or twice a week.

Byron.

So something like this bulb would work:
13W/6500K Spiral - 60W Incandescent Equivalent. 13 Watt, 120 Volt Daylight White CFL Bulb | Bulbs.com

Is the thing that matters on how much actual wattage, and not how much equivalent wattage is provides?

The description also says "NOT RECOMMENDED for use in enclosed fixtures"... would that apply to the hoods, or is this just a general warning?

Thank you for your help! :D

That is the exact same bulb I just got at Lowes for my 10g. ^

That bulb looks good to me.

Got the bulbs at Lowe's yesterday, and wow, visually it makes the tank look so much better. Hope it helps for the plants as well. Now I need to get the Seachem's Flourish Comprehensive Supplement. :)

Thanks again !

Quick Update...

The Wisterias are doing great! The lower segments have new leaf growth coming out, and the existing leaves are growing out and getting a little bit more bushier.

The Argentine Swords looks the same... but it's hard to tell with the Wisterias showing so much improvements right next to it, it might just look like it's standing still.

I reading up on propagating the Wisterias and will see how that goes. :-D
