Serpae Tetra Problem

Hello, i have recently bought a 10 gal, gravel, plants, heater, filter everything. I also got 3 serpae tetras to start making a school but apperemtly, they are not getting along very well... They are constantly nipping each other but mainly one fish. Ive noticed the "picked fish" has more damages than the others now.

How do i stop the aggresion with serpae tetras? Do they need a bigger pack? I heard they nip to each other but i didnt know it can be excessive... Does that mean they are hungry?

Temp is fine.

Help please.

Thanks

hello there
your problem i think is the group number,
it's too small.there will be a pecking order, and that one fish
is at the bottom, and it will only get worse,i'm
sorry to say.if you can,you need to enlarge the group.
however i'm not sure on your stocking amount for that
size tank, someone else will hopefully be along to help.
hang in there.

i agree with willow. id throw a few more in there to help even things out a bit. id rather have my feesh a little cramped than murdering one another!

The lady is right. You have to gradually add your fish or else risk killing all your fish when ammonia and nitrites fluctuate.

Well i got 5 more today and the nipping has stopped. They seem to be hanging together too. I guess that did solve the problem.

THanks

(next time i will buy them in smaller groups)
