question about sumps
i have never had a tank with a sump but i am picking one up tomorrow, i was just wondering, is there a general rule when selecting a sump? as in if your tank is X amount of gallons do you have to have a sump that is over X amount of gallons.. if you get my drift.....

Generally recommended is that the sump volume should be 30% of the tank volume.

I have stated this many times before but in West Texas
if 2 is the desirable minimum
then 4 will be OK
but 6 is what you really want.

I am anticipating fabricating a very large aquarium in my office at my offices next year.
The sump volume will be a minimum of 35% of the tank volume.

If you do not "have to get one today" I may can save you $'s and future grief if you can provide me with more details as to "what you are doing and what you are after".
