Cold water plants
I am currently working on a new tank that will have temperatures between 65-70* F. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on some nice plants that are cold water and can live in moderate lighting.
On a side note, does anyone have any experience in growing java fern and anubius on land?
Elodea densa would be my best bet though they can grow really fast.
This site actually has some plants in categories of Cold Water plants vs Tropical Plants. Maybe it can give you some ideas:
For the most part I think you only really have to worry about cold water plants in warm water tanks.
As for Anubias on dry land, dry land might be the wrong phrase. Anubias will grow very well emersed, which simpy means the rhizome is kept under water or mostly under water and the leaves are grown above water. The only real requirements are very high humidity, some light ferts and some descent lighting, (or a sunny window).
Yeah, should have said moist soil instead of dry land. As far as lighting goes, it would be a compact fluorescent on the cold water tank and two t5's on the brackish tank, though both are vivariums. As far as humidity goes, with misting would it be necessary?
Thanks for the website, that is exactly what i was looking for.
