new bulb for my hood
hello tfk. i was wondering what kind of bulb would be the best replacement for my small 5 gal tank. it has 2 amazon sword plants and the tank that i have is one of the aqua culture 5g starter kits. it says "incandescent light hood complete with bulb." i am not sure what kind of bulb i should replace it in order to help my plant stay alive can somebody help me? plus there are 4 zebra danios and 7 ghost shrimps in my tank if that helps at all.
A compact fluorescent (CF) bulb that you can buy in hardnware stores will work fine. Look for a "daylight" with a Kelvin rating of around 6500K. I know GE makes these, and Phillips and Sylvania probably do too. A 10 watt bulb will be fine.
The CF bulbs are those spiral ones that screw in. The hood over a 5g might require a narrow bulb, or the standard might fit.
i found a bulb for my tank thank you! i went to my local fish store and they gave me a 10 watt bulb. it says its 50% 10,000k daylight and 50% true actinic bluelight.
