Plant/Fish compatibility list
 

Hi, I was wondering if there is a good list of what types of plants are (or are not) compatible with different types of fish. I am considering planting my 40g tank, and the fish make up is starting to consist mainly of barbs. Any direction would be appreciated!

Aside from fish that may eat plants, it generally doesn't matter which plants/fish you have. Vegetarian fish are identified in the profiles. However, some fish do require floating plants, gourami for instance should never be in a tank without some floating vegetation. And pencilfish, hatchetfish, many tetra and cyprinids benefit from floating plants too.

Spawning fish sometimes need specific plants, but that is another matter.
