At last I could get babies from my discus
but there are two problems :
1- I have to take babies to the other place because if I do not do it they will be eaten
2- after a week I saw all of them were died
who can tell me what to do
Arash, you are not supposed to take the babies away from their parents! Give them a month under their parents' care. They needed their parents' slime coat to feed on to survive. This is a mistake often committed by several discus breeders not knowing that caring discus fry is very much different from the other fish.
I know that but the problem is where can I keep parents ?
which tank is suite for them and where can they lay eggs
Now they are in my display tank and other 12 discus will eat the eggs
and my quarantine tank ( the babies tank ) is very small for a 5" male and more than 4" female discus fish
And I think if I change their place they won't lay eggs again and I fear of their damage in a small tank
I think they need at least a 20 gallons bare tank am I right?
if you say a tank with 60*30*40 (CM)is enough I will do it now
what is your idea?
I am going to separate them in the display tank temporarily ( i will forget the view and I don't have good choices to separate them but I will do it)
The fry must stay with the parents, as they feed off the slime of the parents for up to 4 weeks. A 20 high would be the absolute minimum tank size. A 45g high would be more suited fo discus.
Thank u friends
But the new problem is the parent themselves eat the fries
what should I do?
( I seperate the tank and let them breed in piece but after the 3rd day when the fries tried to born ( in night) they were all eanten and I dont know which one (mommy or dady ) ate them?
what's your idea?
i am really confused
