Just thought I'd mention that my daughter's male betta, Harvey passed away at the ripe old age of 3 years. He came to us as a rescue from a small cup on a shelf at petsmart. He had extensive fin rot and was pitiful. My daughter, Kayla, immediately started treatment and he responded quickly with the meds and clean, filtered and heated water all held in a 5 gallon tank. He grew, and his fins recovered magnificently. He was always alert, and assertive, fluffing up whenever anyone came near. A year later, he came down with Ick, and again, with quick treatment from my daughter, he rallied again and fully recovered.
He is buried now, with his favorite little sleeping castle buried next to him. She felt it was important that it stayed with him.
RIP Harvey. You were a survivor and proud, and always beautiful.
I'm sorry to hear about Harvey. He sounds like one great fishy. Kayla did such a great job caring for him and she gave him a great long life.
I love that he has his castle with him. RIP Harvey. You were loved.
I actually cried when I read this! I'm very sorry about the loss of Harvey, 3 years is great going and thanks to Kayla he had a second chance to live a happy/long life, she can be proud of that.
Kayla sounds like she will be an exceptional aquarist! I also find it so touching that his favourite castle was buried with him, becoming his eternal resting place.
Awh that seriously brought a tear to my eye being burried with his castle! Bless him it sounds like he was really loved!
i once had a guppy i loved so much i put flowers in the toilet when i flushed he down. it went but the toilet got clogged afterwards
It touched my heart to hear about Harvey. R.I.P.
