We have platy fry and are wondering when it is safe to release them into the main tank (ie. what age)?
We have 2 platy's already - their parents - will the fry breed with them when released?
Congrats on the fry, what do you have them in right now? You will want to keep them seperated from everyone else until they are big enough that they will not fit into the largest fish's mouth. Right now I have fry that are almost 4 weeks old and would still consider them to be small enough to be eaten by at least my largest platys.
Yes they will breed with the parents and with their siblings, they reach sexual maturity at about 3 to 4 months of age.
