Equipment in an acrylic tank with "eurobracing"
Any suggestions on installing a canister filter intake/return on a "eurobraced" acrylic tank without having intake and return tubes located 3-4" off the tank walls?
I have a really nice 40-45 gallon custom acrylic tank with "eurobracing". That means it has no center braces and the bracing is accomplished by having a wide "band" of acrylic around the entire inside top rim. The band is about 2.5-3" wide and that presents problems when attaching or running equipment onto/into the tank!
I'd rather avoid drilling holes in the acrylic for a variety of reasons.
I drew that to show what i meant.
Just use pvc with the same inside diameter as your current tubing so you don't get flow issues and it should work great. You can get thin plastic paneling to hide the pipes on top if you're not putting a lid/light assembly up there.
A very good idea, thanks! If I do that, I think I'll try bending acrylic tubing. I have access to a heat gun that works well on the tubing. I just have to make sure I can get my cleaning brush through to clean the tube once in a while!
