Filter Problems water draining all over floor HELP!!!!!!!!!!
I am having a slight dilemma with my 2ft tank it has an internal filter turns over 600 litres an hour but the last two nights all of a sudden it seems to be draining my fish tank of about 5 or 6 litres in a night and its all over the floor when i get up in the morning. There is no leak in the tank or anywhere else it seems to be coming from the Air tube for the internal filter. What would cause it to drain the water and what can i do to stop it. I am lost it has never happened before and why all of a sudden. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have no experience with that kind of filter BUT.. it should be fairly easy to do a little trouble shooting.
I think the first step would be to unplug the filter and see if thats the cause. Im not sure at all what or where the air tube would be connected to, but if its going outside the tank try pinning it back so if water is draining out of it, it will drain back into the tank.
oh, and did you check to see if its just plugged up?
let me know how you make out!
sorry to ask, what filter is it ?
i don't understand why this is happening of a night ????
the only way i can thinkof is you not having a non return valve
on an air line ??????
Its an Aquaone filter internal it has like a air tube that connects to the filter to put oxygen into the water i have never had any problems in the past i was just dont understand why it would all of a sudden leak water out
in that case, im willing to bet money its just plugged up in some way
why am i having such a hard time finding
this filter. :dunno:
No experience with that filter here, but this is what I can offer. I have an air pump attached to one of my tanks. I know that when I remove the air pump (when I clean the tank) I have to be careful that the air line doesn't create a siphon which causes water to slowly drain until it is below the line of the tubing inside the tank.
Could something similar to this be happening somehow?
Other questions: Why just at night? And did you check to make sure there is no blockage?
any results ?
IMHO AaS have the best guess here.
A siphon is being created.
Are you certain that the "switch to your lights" is not the "plug in" for you HOB?
