When to Put In Breeding Tank?
I have a couple platys that I suspect are close to giving birth. They are very large, and gravid spot is visable and a light brown color. They are still somewhat active, but sometimes inactive on the gravel or hiding in caves and being protective of their territory. When would should I add them to my breeding tank? I have pictures but they are not all that great.
For moving them to the breeding tank it is better to move them sooner than later. If the fish is moved too close to getting ready to give birth it can cause them to become stress and they may drop too early.
Ok, thanks. I think I'll add them into the breeder tonight. I'm hoping these are rather inexpensive at Petco. :)
Ditto what Barb said. Also in the small tank add some hiding places for the fry. Mom may eat them.
