can anyone provide a rough list on several commonly available plecs and their sizes for me? Esp interested in ones earing on the safer side with some fast common goldfish...
take a look at the links on the right.
You seem to have this idea that a common is more likely to attack your goldfish not sure why that is?! Commons (P. pardalis) are generally accepted to be one of the more peaceful sp. available.
As for prices no-one can tell you if you you dont tell us where you are located, in Australia for example Loricariidae are much more expensive as they are all smuggled in illegally.
hi mike i didnt ask for prices? Many people have told me a BN plec is much less likely to suck on my goldfish than a common? What do you say to that?n
im in southampton england
sorry misread but the availability thing still applies for location.
provided its fed properly i can't see any reason at all why a common would suck in a goldfish, but i have never kept goldfish with my plecos for a start plecos are messy enough on there own without a goldfish and the temps i ran my pleco tanks at were too high for a coldwater fish.
what size tank are you mixing these in and with what filtration?
hi, i have a large 75 gallon with 2 ex1200 filters so i got it covered. What do you think?
I don't see why bn's would be any less likely to try and suck goldfish than commons tbh, someone may know different but as stated i have never mixed tropical and coldwater fish so can't say for certain.
I know some who mixes goldfish and Pseudacanthicus (a carnivorous genus of pleco) succesfully.
Bristlenoses should be fine at goldfish tank temps. Rubbernoses would definitely be fine, but they need current, snd generally fancy goldfish don't do well with that (though I might be mistaken. a-hau-hau-hau </la grange>)
