Wondering what kind of fish this is?

I have this fish that was given to me by a friend, who was moving. He's itty bitty, about one inch to an inch and a half long and he can change color to light tan to dark striped brown. He's usually on the ground and has large cheeks. His body is long and he seems to balance on his front fins. I find him absolutely adorable, I have some pictures but they are really bad, hopefully someone can tell me what he is?

very hard to say, but i would guess a goby, which need brackish, if not full marine conditions to survive.

does your camera have a macro lens/setting? ( on a point and shoot camera, this is usually the flower button/picture)

Couldn't find the macro lense setting T^T stupid cheap camera I need to find a better one, but given that you said he might be a goby I looked some up and since he was in a freshwater tank in my friend's house and doing well I looked up freshwater and I think he was Awaous Flavus, or Candy Cane Stripe, they are brackish in the beginning and switch over to fresh. He should grow some if that is what he is. He's eating like one...
