I've finally purchased my Rams, and I love them. I carefully watched in the store to see what looks like a male/female pair, and they immediately are taking to the tank, picking at the sand bottom, swimming near each other, and seem relatively comfortable - not stressed. I think they will even color up better when they settle in. I put them in the tank only 10 minutes before I shot the picture. I've got my ph staying at 6.3 (thanks Byron for the Malaysian wood suggestion). The wood leaks little if any tannins, and looks nice. Here they are! The Cardinal tetras chose not to be in the picture ;-)

Congrats I have a pair of these guys and I love them they have alot of personality and are very curious often swimming around my hand and watching me if I have it in the tank rearranging things.

It's just playsand, which you can get at HomeDepot, Lowe's etc. Very cheap at under $4 for 50 lbs, but you have to be prepared to rinse, rinse and rinse some more. Lots of fun! If you have a hose, and a backyard that works best, but I did wash sand in the winter in our laundry wash tub. I've done it both ways, and outside with a hose and plastic sand pail works best in my opinion. I consider myself an "expert" at washing sand now :-D

Just beautiful!!! I'm hoping my tank will stabilize enough for a pair myself.

this may be stupid but r they freshwater and do they have eggs or r they livebearers

Christople 08-03-2011 11:41 PM

their is no such thing as stupid, yes this is fresh, and they lay eggs. My rams are in a tank with gold australes, and dwarf rasboras. They accent the rams. I hope they give you many spawns.

Is it hard to c the eggs when they r laid
