Help...my fish had babies This is very strange. It looks like my tiger barb had 4 babies. I had several tiger barbs in the tank over the past week and a half to cycle my new tank. All of the original barbs died but one. Now I see 4 tiny little gold fish swimming around the top of the tank lol What should I do with them? There is 1 molly, 2 bala sharks and 1 ID shark in the tank. Are the babies going to get eaten? Should they be a separate tank with the original barb or even by themselves? My original plans were too return all of these fish b.c im starting a cichlid tank instead. Now I dont know what to do. :-( |
best pic I could get. They are little smaller in length then your fingernail. Is this a barb or a shark? http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/4052/barbl.jpg |
can't see the pic so can't tell you  as for babies it's hard to tell between the fry most of the time.good luck with yours |
I think its a molly. |
I agree, that is probably a molly. The molly you have is likely a female, and all livebearers can be impregnated by a male very early on, and once impregnated can delivber several batches of young without a male present. This is explained a bit in our profile of the Common Molly, click on the shaded name to see the profile. Chances are this female was impregnated in the store tank before you acquired her. Byron. |
Right now I have 7 babies and they are in a small tank floating in the main tank. Should the mother be with the babies in the small tank? |
