Guppy Problems

Two of my eight guppies have died. I change 25% of the water each week. I tested the water and everything was ok. What could it be that are killing my fish. Also I got these fish from a breeder about 2 weeks ago.

Hi Cassie, and sorry to hear about your guppies. Could you give a little more info please?

Tank size
Tankmates
How long the tank has been running
And exact readings for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate.

The more info we have, the more we can help you identify what is going on :)

Its a 20g long with eight blue moscow guppies and five ghost shrimp. nitrate is 20. Nitrite is is .5. And still need to find my ammonia tester. So i dontno that. The tank has been running for like 3 or 4 weeks.

And I just found another dead fish. So that two fish within 12 hours. :cry:

Please post your ammonia as soon as possible. You have nitrites in your tank and I recommend a big water change for that. Keep monitoring your water parameters.

Your guppies are fancy strains and fancy strains aren't exactly tolerable to the presence of ammonia and nitrites.

Yep:

Ditto that one.

In "my brain" "a big water change" is 50%.

Please bring the WC water temperature to near the tank water temperature and add dechlorinate prior to induction into the tank.
