African Butterfly Fish
 
Are these fish compatible with the ones below and i am getting rid of the bala shark? My mom really wants one and i wont let her stick it in a 10 gallon as they are 3-4 inches at the lfs.

hi
from what i can find.
they stay at the top.so no top swimming fish,or they eat them
they eat live food,are able to escape,tank companions
large peaceful fish that stay to the middle and bottom
of the tank.

Just make sure you provide it some cover. Floating plants will do nicely. They're solitary fish, but they will get very nervous and seclude themselves in the corner if there isn't any shelter at all.

and they are known to jump out of the smallest gaps on the top of your tank.... ive had some and all of them have managed to jump out..... even with lids on and the only hole they could get out was the part of the lid with the corner cut off......

I am trying to get rid of the bala shark like i said but it is my brothers fish in my tank and he loves the thing. Thank you fot all of the info i have 2 fake floating plants like the ones you can buy for reptiles they take up a 3rd of the surface area.

i think my guy is refusing to eat althought he crikets disapear while im gone but im not sure. does this fish usually starve itself when u first get it?
