sooo i had a really funny encounter today. I was in one of my LFS' and i saw this tank labled "royal pleco 49.99" so im like what the heck kind of pleco goes for 50 bucks? so im looking in this tank all around this big black rock in the middle trying to find some little fish with dollar bills hanging out of its mouth... when the rock moved. i *almost* squealed it startled me so bad... but this mammoth beast of a fish was almost a foot long!!! it was easily the coolest looking fish ive seen yet :D
anyway.. im going to get a really big (probably 125 gallons or so) tank when my bala sharks get a bit bigger, and at that point ill add more balas and have a nice little community tank. would a 90 or 125 gal tank be big enough for one of these suckers (no pun intended) if I had some other fish in there?
For a 125 gallons, how many balas are you planning to keep overall? Looks too small to me considering balas require a lot of swimming space. There are other fish being better choices than balas.
I won't comment on the royal plec as I never keep one but I would be thinking it will really fit well.
Do make sure you have adequate filtration!
well, the tank is for the balas i already have. they are doing just fine in a 30 gal but they wont be fine for too long. i have 2, i was thinking about getting two more when they move into their new home sometime next year.
as for the football sized pleco and filtration... i was thinking about surgically attaching one of these...
