I just got 3 baby Tiger Oscars and was wondering what are some good live plants to put it there ? and any recommended types of lights ?

Also i have a little cave in there for them now but anyone recommend any types of good decor for them to hide or such ? These are my first cichlids :-P

Welcome to the wonderful word of cichlids :)

First what size tank are they in? Oscars are big fish and need a big tank accordingly especially 3. They have the capability of getting 14in. These three fish will need something in the ball park of 150-180 gallon tank to be comfortable. Make sure you have heavy filtration and are performing regular partial water changes. I suggest 30-50% a week. These guys grow fast and in a years time will be 10-12". If you decide to keep them please give them the space and good water they deserve.

To answer you questions, no plants for these guys they will tear it to pieces. They are powerful fish. They could also care less about lighting so standard bulbs are good. As for decor... keep it simple. As I said they get big so most things are not great decor for them. Try some pieces of driftwood and river rocks. Oscars are great fish to keep. They have tons of personality and are IMO stunning fish.

ah well for right now there in a 55 gallon and i was looking into getting a 180 any ways, and im glad you told me that because i read some thing saying almost any plants were fine guess you saved me money thanks ! :-P

Well you MIGHT be able to keep plants like java fern attached to driftwood but besides that oscars will probably tear most plants up. I think 180 would be fine for those 3 but that's assuming they get along. They are cichlids and can be aggressive and might play "odd man out" to where one fish gets bullied mercilessly. just watch them as they grow. If one looks like it is getting picked on then remove him.

alright i will, there are 2 smaller ones and they always are together they swim around side by side, and the third one is bigger than them they get along for the most part i did see the bigger one try to bully them out of food but it seemed like they pushed him away together haha

My bigger tiger is a very light black its more gray than anything and hes not albino, i think its weird, i heard when they get stressed they get lighter, how true is that ?:whip:

Yes fish will wash out or darken when they are stressed out in some cases.
